Simply put, Strategic Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy are tools that can help you identify negative behavioural patterns or thought processes that you may be running without even knowing it. These negative patterns reside in the subconscious mind and prevent you from leading the successful, fulfilling life you desire. For example, if you have ever struggled with low self-esteem and confidence, addictive behaviours or procrastination, anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, and negative or intrusive thoughts and do not know why ~ Strategic Psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy can find the negative patterns and thought processes in your subconscious mind that supports these behaviours, interrupt them and teach you to apply something more effective. Strategic Psychotherapy ~ What it is? Strategic Psychotherapy is a therapist directed, future focused, solution-oriented, client centred approach which assists clients in identifying the underlying issue to their presenting problem. It is a form of proactive therapy that leads the client to an outcome in the most effective way possible. We help you explore and access resources within your subconscious mind that you may or may not be aware that you already have. Thereby enabling you to effectively respond to life’s current challenges. Latest research shows that the underpinning to all problems is a learned cognitive style, therefore anything learned can be unlearned or changed. The combination of hypnotherapy and strategic psychotherapy produces powerful and effective personal change due to several techniques that explore the mind-body connection (thinking and behavioural processes). As your therapist, our role is to find the patterns that cause you difficulty in any area of your life. We want to know HOW you run or process these problems, not why you have these problems. Strategic Psychotherapy is different to traditional talk therapies in that strategic therapy seeks to change the process or pattern underlying your behaviour or thought processes. The best thing is that you do not need to tell your whole story and past events in a large amount of detail. You can if you wish to, but it is not required as part of this form of therapy.
Our focus is on HOW you process your world, not the content. We believe insight alone does not trigger change, so we focus on HOW you are doing it, not why.
Why do we work with the Subconscious Mind?
Most other therapies focus on the conscious mind; however, the problem area is also driven by implicit memory and subconscious processes. Clinical Hypnotherapy opens the pathway to create the preferred change in the conscious and subconscious mind. It is a fast, effective technique that enables you to reset your conscious and subconscious thought processes and retrain your brain to respond with a positive response. This approach addresses the physical responses, negative emotions and thought processes, as well as providing effective tools to minimise the problem to a manageable level or totally remove it going forward.

What is Clinical Hypnotherapy? ~ it is a natural and healthy state of mind ~ Strategic Psychotherapy has a direct connection with Clinical Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is the word used to describe a natural unconscious process, something which is experienced daily by everyone. It is a normal, naturally occurring healthy state of mind, which enables clients to achieve a state of mental, physical, and emotional relaxation and it is perfectly safe. It is within that space of deep relaxation that deep and profound positive change can occur and why it is used in Strategic Psychotherapy. Basically, it is that space between being fully awake and alert and being restful. During Clinical Hypnotherapy, our role as a Clinical Hypnotherapist is to get you into a relaxed state which opens the doorway of change in cognitive thought processes which then opens a pathway of changes in behaviour to occur. The suggestions of change are based on areas of concerns and the aspects of your life you would like to improve. However, the client must want the changes to occur for them to happen, so you cannot be asked to do anything against your free will. At all times, you are aware of your surroundings. This is a naturally occurring phenomenon, it is how we learn, knowingly or unknowingly. Strategic Psychotherapy is the therapy, and Clinical Hypnotherapy is the vehicle for delivering the message.
Can anyone be hypnotised? Yes, however, some more easily than others. It is the same state of mind that occurs when you are day dreaming, zoning out or in a trance like state. There is also a common misconception that you can be hypnotised against your will. It is simply not true. It is a choice.
How does our approach differ? At MM Holistic Healing, each session is tailored to you. There are no scripts because we know that you are unique and complex and deserve more than a simple cookie cutter approach. It is modelled on the evidence-based awareness that our patterns of thinking and behaviour are a response to our perspectives, rather than on what has happened to us. In other words, input (perspective) equals output (response) which equals a learned behaviour, and as mentioned before, if a behaviour can be learned it can be unlearned. ~ therefore, all behaviours are changeable ~ We can help you by actively working with you to give you the tools and teach you skills to create permanent change by addressing the cause and not the symptoms. All habitual behaviour, good, bad, or ugly, is learned. Simply talking about why you do it does not help to make the changes; we need to look at HOW you do it for the changes to occur. We help you identify the problem area so you are able to interrupt it , and apply something more effective. We teach you HOW to become resilient in an uncertain world, by showing you how to do things differently, regardless of life’s adversities. This helps you move forward with a more useful perspective of the world and your place within it. ~ you deserve to feel better and do better ~ Your crucial contribution When you expand your range of experiences, you also expand your personal resources, perspectives and life skills. Which includes the value of tasking. What if I just want a one-off follow-up session?It is recommended that people complete at least 6 sessions in order to eliminate a pattern and gain experience so that they can eliminate their problem. Remember, it took time to develop the pattern in the first place. Our goal is to get you ‘doing better’ not just ‘feeling better.’ In saying that, one off follow-up sessions can be purchased. If finances are an obstacle, then please speak to us before commencing therapy and we can work out a payment plan that suits your needs. Strategic Psychotherapy is client centred but therapist led and it is highly effective. Based on clinical research, on average, 93% of clients achieve their preferred outcome in six sessions.
What if you can’t help me?There are some cases where we may not be able to help as your problem may be out of our scope. We may be working out of scope with conditions like Clinical Depression, Bi-Polar and Schizophrenia. In this case we may refer you to your General Practitioner. ~ we don’t just want you to feel better, we want you to do better! ~
